Back in 1999 I was asked to put my money where my mouth was because I said I could DJ better than the DJ we had in the pub at the time so I went out bought some kit and started to do disco in the pub and with it being a rough pub they would tell me straight if I was good or not and 21 years later I retired from DJing so it was a good shout. I’ve done Murrayfield and Edinburgh zoo, the Abseiling in South Queensferry a team of us help raise a lot of money for charity. For some years I’ve been in and around Community Radio and am now delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Radio Telstar Team. I present the afternoon show every Friday from 1pm. 'From that first time I heard 'Pictured Life' by The Scorpions and 'Whole Lotta Rosie' from ACDC in late 1979, I've been totally engrossed in rock music. Went to my first theatre rock gig at the Apollo in November 1980 to see ACDC and regularly attended that great venue until the last rock gig , Uriah Heep, in June 1985. So I've over 40 years of going to classic rock and metal gigs, not just in the theatres/arenas/festivals but also pubs/clubs and small iconic rock venues that we all love to go to. I've been lucky enough to see Whitesnake in the Californian desert, Metallica at Metlife stadium in New Jersey at one end of the scale, but equally enjoyed going to see local or emerging bands at the now defunct 'Ochil Hills' in Tillicoultry, 'The Venues' in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, pubs and clubs all over the UK and supporting bands of all types and stature where I can.
Tim Rogers started his broadcasting career at Radio Trent, Nottingham in 1979. Within 2 years he also broadcast his Country Show on Xtra AM in Birmingham. Eventually Tim was to be found on Gem Am (part of Radio Trent) throughout the East Midlands. Tim subsequently presented the National Country Show on the Classic Gold Network, (which included numerous broadcasts from Nashville’s WSM Radio,The General Jackson Showboat, The Country Music Hall Of Fame, The Grand Ole Opry etc,) and then Saga Country on SAGA 106.6fm. In February 2007 Tim won the coveted Country Music Association (Nashville) International Broadcasters Award for outstanding contributions to Country Music. Until 2018, Tim’s ‘Classic Country’Show was syndicated across 50 Radio Stations Worldwide with a tried and tested format of Classic Country Hits from the 50’s onwards, new releases and America’s weekly Top 5 Country Singles. Before the pandemic Tim broadcast ‘Tim Rogers Country’ every week from BBC Radio Lincolnshire and now his latest project ‘The Tim Rogers Country Show’ is carried on Radio Stations throughout the U.K. and around the world. Tim Rogers was once described by a Country Music contemporary as being “The local Country Music Presenter who was the benchmark for us all from the 80’s onwards” Tim brings us a feast of the greatest Country tracks, Old, New and Forgotten. Hi my name is Sandy M, Being a child of the 70s, I began to take notice of chart music at around the age of 5 or 6 years old, which would have been the early 80s. Like many of my school friends I would be glued to the radio as often as possible hoping to hear my favourite records. I used to visit the local record shop with my mum from a very early age, which is where my music collection began. Over the years, I have collected many different types of music. Now I have the opportunity to share some of that music with you, here on your favourite station. My show includes weekly features such as.. “RETRO REWIND” “TIME TUNNEL” & “SANDY M's 12"INCH FINISH” I hope you can join me from time to time right here each week.
